Description/Job Summary

To prevent testing issues and improve workflow processes through the application of Lean Thinking principles.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Identify, evaluate and implement procedures and equipment to improve time, cost, capacity, safety and environment impact with a two-phase approach
    • On a continuous improvement basis
    • With the larger goal of bringing the Test building up to a world class rotating machinery test facility
  • Solve project specific production problems through the support of other departments and groups (engineering, material logistics, scheduling, procurement, QA and vendors)
  • Review and modification of all existing department standards documents plus the development of new ones
  • Training of all test, and possible visiting personnel on standard procedures
  • Represent the department on the safety committee and the environment management team
  • Conduct quality, safety and environmental management audits
  • Serve as the backup to the test engineer and designer based on business needs: 
  • Assure that personnel are working in accordance with the applicable manufacturing, HR and quality procedures
  • Assure that personnel are working in accordance with safety and environmental procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment
  • Interface with engineering to solve technical issues
  • Some travel, including international travel, is required
  • Occasionally the job will require time outside standard office hours including holidays and weekends.
  • To comply with Safety Rules, Regulations and OSHA Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree with hands on experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Creative problem solver (able to think out of the box) , Self motivated, results oriented
  • Ability to interface professionally with other departments
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills needed
  • Willing and able to learn new technical and managerial skills
  • Good computer application skills.
  • Inventor, Creo (Pro E), and or AutoCAD experience is a plus
